CHARLIE GEORGE MACLENNAN

Charlie was born on the 30th December 1986, a healthy 7lbs 4,5ozs, Charlie was born with a small hole in his heart and a murmur, he was under Great Ormond Street Hospital, until he was discharged at the age of 14, Charlie never suffered a days promblem with his murmur or the hole in his heart. Charlie came out a fighting, argry and very very hungry, in fact he continued to stay hungry for the next 2 years. I always knew Charlie was special, he would never really find much interest in his young class mates at nursery. i would drop him off in the morning and he would be in the same spot when i picked him up at lunch time. Charlie was always older than his age, he was always fiddling, fixing and tinkering with electrical objects. he loved a screwdriver. even at the age of 2, all the other mothers would give us a wide birth, when they saw Charlie in his pushchair waving his beloved srewdriver. Charlie was also into music from a very young age, from the moment he could stand he would be playing his tape recorder or his record player, he was always ready to set my next record up for my marjorette troop, of course he would be standing on a chair in eagerness. but he was a master he never missed a beat. Charlie excelled through Primary School, (Moreland) and was a good achiever, he also loved to play football, he was a part of a boy's team after school, and this become one of his passions through out his life along with his music. Charlie then went on to attend Westminster city boys school, were he continued to achieve very high standards, he was awarded with an outstanding achievement awards on numerous occasions, Charlie was a very popular students at Westminser, he loved attending school, he even went back to sixth form, to retake his exams in order to attend University this year, I was informed by Charlie's School that he was Successsful in winning a place at Bath University for his Geography, he would have started this year in september, I know he would have been overwhelmed at getting a place there as this was his first choice, I was so proud to know that he worked so very hard to attain his grades in order to get his place. Charlie was very rarely off of school with sickness, he was always a healthy boy, and attendance record at Westminster and Moreland was immaculate. Charlie loved life. he always looked forward to his 2 week holiday abroad every year with his family, he was always his happiest by the sea, but his real love was his home it was his kingdom. Charlie was a humble boy, he never wanted for anything, but what he did have he really appreciated, he was always so very grounded Charlie had a great relationship with his sister Bobbie-Leigh and brother Freddie, which can be rare in some families. I always knew Charlie was a special boy, who went on to be a very special young man, who touched the hearts of so many people, he filled all of his eighteen years with as much information, love and excitement while he was here, I never realised just how popular Charlie was until he died, i was overwhelmed by how many Teachers, Pupils and Friends attended his funeral (over 300), it uplifted me to see how much my son was loved and respected, and for that i am very thankful. Charlie's Teachers have told me so many great thing about him, how hard he worked at school, not just academically, but with outside projects too, like the school plays and after school games I am honoured to have had such a wonderful son. I could not have asked for a more perfect son than Charlie, for him I am eternally Grateful.
Lynn Maclennan (nee: Towner)
